The Lady Lancers traveled to a neutral site in Anaheim to take on the Katella Knights in the second round of the CIF-SS girls soccer playoffs. Freshman Maddy Lineville was able to find home in the first half and give the Lancers a 1-0 lead, and that was a lead the Lancers would take all the way to halftime. The Knights were able to put together a strong second half where they tallied two goals but senior captain Ivy Williams was able to score for the Lancers which was enough to send the game into extra time in a 2-2 tie. Both teams would play excellent defense in the two short halves of extra time, sending the match to a penalty shootout to decide the game. However, this is where the Lancers would pull ahead, despite the Knights making 4 of their 5 shots, the Lancers would go a perfect 5-of-5 in the shootout to clinch a victory and a berth for the third round of the CIF playoffs. The Lancers next match will be against the Louisviille Royals, and after winning the coin toss, the game will be played here in Thousand Oaks at Lancer Stadium on February 14th, and this will be no easy task for the Lancers as Louisville is riding a 10 game win streak.
Perserving in Penalty’s
Regulation and extra time were not enough to decide this battle, as the Lancers took it down in a penalty-kick shootout
