Thousand Oaks Girls Tennis defeated Agoura 10-8 yesterday, winning all singles matches. Their upcoming game at Calabasas will be a determining factor to how the Lancers approach their final two matches. Their last match is at home against Newbury Park High School.
“So far, the matches have been pretty close. Right now, we are just trying to relax and try our hardest and keep the faith,” sophomore Eleanor Liu said.
Liu won her matches 6-3, 6-2, and 6-0 against the Chargers making it her second sweep in her last two matches. Her previous sweep was against Newbury Park, winning 6-0, 6-4, and 6-4. She has asserted her dominance over most opponents this year and provided key wins for the team. Completing another sweep against the Panthers would end the regular season on a high note for Liu.
However, matches are not only won with singles performances. The score is cumulative of how many matches are won total. There are 18 matches total, 9 doubles and 9 singles matches. The Lancers swept in singles against the chargers, but only picked up one victory in their doubles matches. They still pulled out a 10-8 victory, but it was too close for comfort. Ideally the Lancers will finish their season strong with dominant victories over the Coyotes and Panthers.
