Boy’s tennis looks forward to the spring season with their first home preseason game against Moorpark, this Thursday February 23rd.
“We’re are really looking forward to this match as a learning experience and pole of how we should do this season, senior Ryan Hamilton Brown said.
Last year’s team looked promising with a few promising seniors to lead the team, but with unexpected turn of events lost moral and resulted in an unexpectedly disappointing season the past year. Seniors, Andrew Chau, Brian Lee, and Ryan Hamilton-Brown, all returning varsity players, plan to lead the team, in a successful season.
“We need to focus on winning our doubles matches this year, we don’t have a lot of standout players, so we just need to win the matches we know we can win,” said Hamilton-Brown.
Tennis match ups are scored by individual games, so if the boys can produce wins in the doubles matches the team can create a buffer for singles players when facing off against impressive opponents.
“We didn’t do great last year so hopefully we learn from our preseason games. Hopefully this match gets us ready for the rest of the season.” junior Priyansh Gupta said.
Moorpark is not in the same league as the TOHS tennis team, but they face off every year in the preseason. Moorpark has never been a challenge for the team in previous season, and a similar outcome is expected on Thursday.
“Moorpark is a team we can definitely beat, it should be a solid practice for season,” junior Stephen Kim said.
