Helping the environment has always been sophomore Harmony Pandey’s dream. Harmony reaches beyond to make her dream come true, by founding a non-profit.
“I really want to help raise money and support organizations like the World Wildlife Fund because they can do more stuff than we can,” Pandey said.
Pandey noticed everyone talking about how bad the trash population had become but shortly after noticed how no one was doing anything to fix it. So, she gathered her ideas and opinions, and made it her priority to create an organization where people care.
On October 20th, Cleaning For A Cause planned to clean up the beach in Santa Monica, but they want to take a step further and get to cleaning homes for those who live with disabilities.
She promotes her business on Instagram, on an account called Cleaning For A Cause TO. This is where they show dates and locations of the clean-ups, in an attempt to spread awareness. Although it doesn’t have a lot of recognition yet, Pandey is determined to make people care just as much as she does.
Pandey is motivated to clean and see the joy on people’s faces. She’s excited about the new opportunity and grateful for her experience from an old nonprofit that her parents had previously in 2016.
“It makes me so sad to see photos of trash in the ocean and it’s plastic I’ve used,” Pandey said.
She believes that if everyone cut down on their plastic use it would help significantly. With countless goals regarding the cleanliness of the environment, she is taking a major step for someone her age.
The main goal of Cleaning For A Cause is to help change the environment piece by piece to create a world everyone feels comfortable living in, and Harmony Pandey is striving to be the first step to make it happen.
