Turkey Day dash returns to Thousand Oaks
Turkey Day Dash

If you’re interested in running and helping out non-profit organizations, then Five07’s Turkey Day Dash may be the event for you.

After taking a three-year break, the event returned to Thousand Oaks due to popular demand. On Thanksgiving morning, runners from all over Ventura County got to do what they love while raising money for non-profits such as the Conejo Valley Boy Scouts, the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks Foundation, and the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. The event included runners ages 10 and up.  Organizers of the run debuted a new event, The Zack Zernick Mile. The mile was dedicated to a known “dasher”, Zachary Zernick, who tragically died in February after falling near Mount Boney. Once the Dash was completed, the closing ceremony was held, where Zack Zernick’s mother, Elizabeth Zernik spoke.

The Turkey Day Dash’s festivities began at 7:00 a.m followed by a 20-minute warm-up with Stretch Coast. Once all runners were stretched and ready to go, a costume contest was held, and finally, the opening ceremony began. The untimed Zack Zernick Mile began at 8:00 am, followed by the usual 5k Turkey Dash.
