With the quarantine blues getting the best of all of us, what better way to pass the time than going back in time? The Lancer has compiled a list some popular classic Disney movies. All of these movies can be found on Disney+ or purchased from iTunes, so grab a blanket, some popcorn and a warm drink, and enjoy these Disney classics.
Dumbo – 1941
Dumbo is an animated movie about a little circus elephant of the same name. He was given his name because of his big ears, which the other circus animals bullied him about. When the showrunner, Max Medici, learns that Dumbo’s oversized ears give him the ability to fly, he soon becomes the main attraction. From here, Dumbo goes on an adventure, during which he gains confidence and self-love. A heartwarming movie to watch, this is a sweet Disney classic.
Cinderella – 1950
One of the most popular Disney classics is Cinderella. A sweet, kindhearted girl’s life starts to go downhill after her mother dies. Soon after, her father marries the evil Lady Tremaine, who has two cruel twin daughters. Upon her father’s death, Cinderella is left sweeping, cleaning, sewing, cooking, and laboring for her family. And when the king decides to host a ball for the prince, her one true wish is to go. But getting there will be no easy task. And what will happen when she arrives? Simple and sweet, Cinderella is one of the most classic Disney love stories there is.
Alice in Wonderland – 1951
Alice in Wonderland is an all-time classic Disney film. This mind-boggling animated fantasy begins with Alice following a rabbit down a rabbit hole. At the end awaits a magical underground world. Here, she is introduced to Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, and others. As she makes her way through trippy tea parties and forests, she encounters the Queen of Hearts. To avoid being beheaded, Alice must do all she can to please the queen and escape. This movie is on the must-watch list for sure.
Peter Pan- 1953
Follow Peter Pan to the magical world of Neverland with Wendy, John, and Michael Darling, and Tinker Bell. This is a movie all Disney lovers can agree never gets old. Upon landing in Neverland, the Darlings meet Peter Pan’s friends, the lost boys, as well as the great Captain Hook. A truly captivating adventure, this movie is a great cure for all of your quarantine woes.
Aristocats – 1970
Aristocats is the story of three Parisian kittens Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz, and their mother Duchess. Their owner, Madame Adelaide Bonfamille, has decided to give them her fortune when she dies. Angered by this, her butler Edgar drugs the cats and drops them off in the countryside. While trying to get back home, they meet a street cat, O’Malley. Together, they go on a musical adventure back to Madame Adelaide’s, finding many new friends along the way. A timeless animated movie, Aristocats is cute and fun for everyone.
Fox and the Hound – 1981
Fox and the Hound is an animated movie with a sweet story about two unlikely best friends. Tod, an orphaned fox raised by a kind widow, and Copper, a hound and hunting-dog-in-training, should be rivals in every natural sense. So when time apart brings about big changes, their strong friendship from their youth will be put to the test. This beautiful movie will definitely put you right in your feels.
